The Dagara tradition, which has origins in Burkina Faso and Ghana in West Africa, is a rich and complex spiritual practice deeply rooted in elemental reverence and community healing. Central to the Dagara worldview is the belief that life is an ongoing conversation with the spirit world, and that human purpose is to act as a bridge between the physical and metaphysical realms.
The Elemental Wisdom Deck is more than a divination set.

The Elemental Cosmology of the Dagara tradition is often structured around five core elements, which are distinct from, yet parallel to, indigenous American traditional elements.
For this deck we have included a sixth element:
1. Embody the element
Each element has specific aspects that align with the human experience. Use the cards to gain greater insight as to how the element is in relationship with you.
- Fire: Represents transformation, energy, and the will.
- Water: Represents reconciliation, peace, and connection to ancestors.
- Earth: Represents community, grounding, and resources.
- Mineral: Represents character, memory, communication and support structure (sometimes integrated into Earth or viewed as a distinct crystallizing force).
- Nature: Represents vital force, spirit, and connection to the larger web of life.
- Air: Represents breath, passion, thoughts, dreams.

2. Elemental Polarity
Each element has a one benefit "+" / challenge "-" card.
The “benefit / challenge” card for each element can be used separately from the other elemental cards, for “yes / no” readings of elemental relationship.
The cards can be drawn individually or in pairs.
When the cards are drawn in pairs the cards become relational, representing how the elements are challenging or complimenting each other.
3. Alpha / Numerology
In the Dagara tradition each of the elements has two relational numbers (0 - 9). One number to represent masculine and one to represent feminine. Both the alphabet card and the number card support the Dagara numerology practice.
The alphabet card and the numerology card can be used as stand alone references when doing numerology readings and/or alpha-numerology divinations.
When processing the masculine / feminine aspect of an element it is important to recognize the resonance of these polarities as an energetic team. Masculine / Feminine can also be represented as push / pull.
Each Elemental Wisdom Deck contains:
- 48 - Elemental cards ( 6 x each element)
- 6 - Polarity cards ( 1 x each element)
- 1 - Alphabet card
- 1 - Numerology card
GO BEYOND THE BINARY !
Due to the fact that this card deck has two faces, it uses a binary system of awareness to invite the diviner to explore beyond the binary. You are invited to use the polarities of “plus / minus” and “masculine / feminine” as an opening to explore the fullness of the spectrum that spans the polls. You may also choose to experiment with exchanging the value of the polarities with “push / pull”, “challenge / benefit”, “heavy / light”, “dense / fluffy” as an exploration into what harmonically resonates with you.
