Divination is a spiritual practice which can offer the diviner insights into events and give greater understanding of situations.
There are many different modalities of divination including, yet not limited to, tarot cards, astrology, runes, pendulums, tea leaves, scrying (e.g., crystal balls or mirrors), shells and bones.
For divination sessions Djeli uses shells, stones, pendulums, a divination mat and numbers.
The diviner accesses the divination process to tap into intuition, spiritual realms, or universal energies for guidance on personal or broader life questions for the divinee.
Divination is a spiritual practice not a religious practice and therefore can align with many religious practices.
Djeli received the Usui Reiki master practitioner attunement in 2005 and in 2024 received initiation as a diviner in the Dagara tradition of Burkina Faso in direct lineage with Baba Malidoma Somé. Combining these processes Djeli utilizes numerology, shell divination, bone divination and stone divination to gain answers on behalf of the divinee.
The Cowrie shell divination offers the most in depth insight into the questions and concerns of the divinee. The cowrie shell divination like other divination practices uses elemental relationships to allow for a richer understanding of answers. The elemental relationship of the readings also offer prescription for ritual and remedy.
For in person cowrie shell divination allow 60 min to 90 min per session
For virtual cowrie shell divination allow 60 min to 70 min per session.

The numerology / elemental reading is the most basic reading yet don't be fooled by the word "basic", because the simplicity offers great clarity. The numerology / elemental reading can bring to light imbalances and challenges in your life while also showing ways to correct the imbalances and overcome the challenges.
Readings can be done in - person or virtual.
Whether in person or virtual the reading takes place in two parts: Part 1 - information gathering, Part 2 - the reading of the chart.

In the tradition
The Dagara traditions separates the elements into Water, Fire, Mineral, Nature and Earth which is different than other cultural delineations of the elements into Fire, Water, Earth and Air. Similarly to other cultures the Dagara tradition recognizes that each of the elements has a polarity meaning they can be interpreted as positive and negative or masculine and feminine or challenge and benefit. In each reading we will look at the elemental relationships to discover any imbalances and ascertain prescriptions for correction.

Through ancestral healing practices one steps onto the path of releasing ancestral baggage and opening to ancestral rewards. The majority of our ancestors wished to take their baggage and traumas with them to the grave. Often to show our love for these ancestors we unwittingly picked up the baggage and trauma to carry through our lives. With divination practices such as re-patterning, soul retrieval, vibrational re-alignment divinee's can create a new pathway to healing.

For a numerology reading the diviner discerns from the fixed numbers in the divinee's cosmology challenges and choices that align with the divinee's path.
Q: Is divination the same as fortune telling?
A: (Short answer) No!
(Longer answer) As practiced here, divination is more about accessing the divinee's energy field to discover what nourishes the energy and what depletes the energy.
Q: How long is a session?
A: A basic reading takes about 30 mins.
A deep reading lasts about 60 mins.
A numerology reading last about 45 mins.
Ancestral de-patterning and re-patterning can last 90 mins.
Q: Is Dagara divination part of a religion?
A: The divination practiced here is derived from the shamanic practices of the Dagara people of Burkina Faso as originally shared by Baba Malidoma Somé. Dagara divination is not an aspect of any one religion.
